Big Bass: a beginner's guide to reading the water

When I first started Big Bass I did the obvious thing — cast anywhere, tap frantically, and lose most of my catches. It took a while to realize the whole game rewards patience over speed. The nibble animation gives you a clear window, and reeling a half-second too early is what snapped my line every time.

The single biggest improvement came from paying attention to where fish actually gather. Shaded edges and spots near cover held bigger catches than open water, and the game quietly signals this if you watch the surface. Once I started casting deliberately instead of randomly, my hauls jumped.

Lures matter more than they seem. Early on I stuck with the starter lure, but swapping to one that sinks slower completely changed which fish showed interest. Try a few, notice what bites, and build a small favorites list.

My last tip is boring but true: don't fight the resistance. When a big one hooks, ease off and let it tire rather than yanking. Big Bass is calmer than it looks, and once you slow down it turns into one of the most relaxing things on my phone.
