Big Bass

Big Bass is one of those games that looks simple in the store screenshots and then quietly eats an afternoon. You tap to cast, wait for a nibble, and pull back with a satisfying little tug of resistance. The whole loop is built around timing, and once you get the rhythm it becomes weirdly relaxing.

What surprised me was how much depth sits under the calm surface. Different spots hold different fish, the water shifts through the day, and you gradually unlock lures that behave in distinct ways. Nothing is forced on you — you can potter around a single lake for an hour and still feel like you're improving.

Controls are one-handed and generous. There's a small skill curve to landing bigger catches without snapping the line, but the game never punishes you harshly. It's the kind of thing I open on a bus and forget to close.
